The much-anticipated second season of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel launches on the streaming platform soon, and fan speculation has been widespread.
The first season introduces a large cast of personalities residing in the afterlife, pits them against each other with songs about their clashes, and builds tense rivalries and angsty, affectionate connections that drive fan obsession.
The community's expectations for season 2 vary widely, but certain themes emerge over and over: Will a fan-favorite character break free from Valentino? Might we learn more about the mysterious "deal" constraining Alastor the Radio Demon? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Naturally, I don't make the show with audience demands as the main goal," the creator stated recently. "However I believe that me being a fan of my own show means there's a lot of it just inherently. I also want to see these things, and I hope some of these things to happen, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She says her long-term vision is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have received approval by the production companies, which finance the series.
That might mean viewers have to wait years for some of the biggest payoffs — but they could be shocked at how fast the new season moves, and how many of what they're anticipating happens this season.
"I feel like people are going to get a lot out of it," she adds. "There are several debut moments. I think we receive some incredible reveals, some really cool origin tales, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear much more singing from the previously silent cast members."
She's certainly aware of the theories and desires about the upcoming season — particularly in the form of fan bingo cards.
"I've seen a few fans make a prediction grid about season 2," she says. "Naturally I won't share it, but I've already completed a few items, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."
Hazbin Hotel season 2 launches on Prime Video on Oct. 29.
